Indigenous Leaders Shaping Technology & Global Finance
Tomorrow marks the start of Indigenomics on Bay Street in Toronto, a landmark event where Indigenous economic sovereignty will take center stage in Canada’s financial district. Led by Carol Anne Hilton and the Indigenomics Institute team, this event will bring together Indigenous leaders, financial experts, and technologists to explore how Indigenous wisdom and economic innovation can shape the future.
I’ve had the awesome opportunity to contribute alongside this incredible team, and I’m excited to see the powerful discussions that will unfold. From innovative economic models to future-forward tech, this event highlights how Indigenous wisdom can drive sustainable growth and reshape global finance.
In the lead-up to the event, I’ve been reflecting on the work of some inspiring Indigenous tech leaders—like Michael and Caroline Running Wolf—who are shaping the broader movement of Indigenous innovation. While they aren’t at this event, their groundbreaking work in AI and cultural preservation highlights the possibilities of merging tech and tradition, something we’ll definitely be discussing here at Indigenomics Bay Street.
While not everyone can be there in person, this moment is a call for all of us to listen, learn, and engage with the ideas and leaders shaping the future of Indigenous economies. I encourage you to follow along, seek out opportunities to educate yourself, and support Indigenous-led innovation in your own way. Let’s make this about being part of a broader movement toward economic empowerment and technological leadership rooted in Indigenous values.
“Being a genuine ally involves a lot of self-reflection, education, and listening. It means knowing we’re often coming into this space from a position of power and privilege.” —Rodney Dillon, Amnesty International
With this in mind, let's keep the conversation going, explore ways to engage, and support Indigenous innovators, projects, and technologies that are making real impact.
